Photo of a boxing cup I found listed at an antique shop in the Southern United States, but unfortunately it was already sold. This was a cup won by my Grandfather - no idea how it ended up in the U.S. Attachments:

Found this while dragging myself thru site after site. My grandfather was a boxer BUT in Canada - this forum came up in my search so.... yup I checked and he isnt by any chance in here.
Love the posts and photos and those trying as I am to piece together a past with out help as those that could help are in that great boxing ring in the sky either in the ring or watching!
Eddy Franks - featherweight - fought in Canada and the U.S. 1912 - 1917 ish.
Boxingrec.com has no contact information ...
Anyone in their journey peruse any North American sites that had value?
I would like to say this site here is quite impressive and I havent come across anything quite so organized - wish we had an equivelant.
Any info would be a blessing. Cheers, Ina

My dad was an old time boxer from Notting Hill London W11.1935-1937, he I believe had 35 professional fights I have a small very frail boxing recording book of his and a photograph of him in a sparing pose. Mostly the writing in the book was done in pencil and done by his brother-in-law who followed his carer. Does anyone else on this site possibly have any more info on my late father? would be great to hear from you. my email address is pearcerebecca5@aol.com
Thank you Rebecca

Actually my grandfather is Norman Morris... Later SNOW, a name he earned from his sponsors and yes he did lose an eye... His boxing record is phenomenal, How dare you say he was an imposter.. If you'd like to meet up i will show you a few of his combinations he passed on to me and i'll blacken your eyes for you...! How Dare You...!!! Do you have any photographs of your grandfather as a boxer...? I do... And have you ever thought that there may be 2 NORMAN SNOW'S or even maybe your grandfathers claims are false... What a cheek........!!!!

Does anybody have any information at all on boxing in the coal mine industry? Specifically around the 1940's?
I am trying to find out a bit of family history and would love to hear any information at all on how it was run etc.
Anything at all would be fantastic!

Hi I believe my ancestors were brothers Jack and Joe Goodwin. They boxed in the 30s/40s I believe in East London. Their name was originally Goldstein but it was changed to Goodwin. I dont know a lot else about them so if anyone could help i would really appreciate it. Thanks Donna don_don11@hotmail.co.uk

I am the grandaughter of Joe Goodwin. My mother was Leah Goodwin known as Lily. He was a boxer Years ago .Won the Lonsdale Belt. His brother Jack was his trainer and sadly died at one of his fights at the Albert Hall.Joe did not fight much after that. This was all in the 1930s.I remember my Mother telling me that the whole boxing world turned out for Jacks funeral as he was so well thought of in the boxing world.Joe died in the 60sThey originally came from Poland changed there name form Goldstein to Goodwin.Joe lived in Valence rd Bethnal Green with my Grandmother Ellen. They had 4 children my mother and 2 other daughters Doris and Rayner also a son Ruben.I know Jack was married but had no children as far as I can remember.Obviously all deceased now sadly.Hope this is helpful.
