Hi, I'm trying to find information on my late father-in-law. He was an amateur boxer in West London before WW2. His name was George Abrahart and he lived in Hammersmith. We have a lot of cups with no inscriptions and his grandchildren and great grandchildren would like to know more about his boxing. I would appreciate any help. Do you know of a George Abrahart? Do you know where I can find information on amateur boxers before the war? Thank you - great website. Sherryl Abrahart

Hi. I have stumbled across your question re George Abrahart, he was my half-brother's uncle. My brother's name is Roy Woodham and his mother's sister was George's wife Emily. Roy remembers going to their house in Hammersmith and seeing his uncle's boxing trophies and also that the family emigrated to Australia in the 1950a, He thought -George was involved in refereeing boxing at the Australian Olympics. Is there any way I could contact you by e-mail?

Hello, Sally. I do know about your uncle, Roy. My mother-in-law, Emily, had a sister called Fay. Fay was Roy's mother. So, yes, you are correct - George's family emigrated to Australia in the 1950's. But George's son, Lester, came back to the UK in the 1970's. I'm Lester's wife. My email address is Sherryl.Abrahart@3di-info.com. I would love to hear from you. We always wondered what happened to Fay's sons.
