Hi there. I'm researching my family tree and have been told by my great Aunt that her dad, my Gt grandfather was a boxer probably in Glasgow. He was born in 1883 and lived in Bridgeton in Glasgow.
He fell on a flight of stairs and injured his spine so had to give up boxing himself but became a trainer.
One of his fighters was Elky Clark. He apparently advised Elky not to travel to America and fight but he did, injured/lost an eye and had to give up fighting too.
Gt Grandad then went on to become a sports masseur and had several well to do clients. He apparently invented a massage balm called Boyle's balm that really helped injuries.
He was a heavyweight champion and had won a belt. Unfortunately after he died his cousin, a reporter approached my Gt gran to borrow belt for book he was writing and didn't return it.
Could anyone help me with information or where I could go to find some?
Thanks Karen
